Install Power Supply

It's possible that our power supply of computer at some point ceased to produce electricity and doesn't turn on. Here he explains how to change by a new and help you understand what type of connectors and where we can connect.

First a pictures from a typical power supply and differents connectors.

The first two we see are the connectors that connect to motherboard (usually ATX, or 20 pins),
IDE and Floppy connectors (and almost dying giving way to sata) were used and are still used to connect IDE hard drives or floppy disk drives, next sata connector pin for connecting SATA drives (faster than the IDE) and and finally the PCI Express connector this is mostly used to connect most new graphics cards.

Knowing that is a power supply connectors and knowing we can change:

1-. Remove the box and extract the old power supply to enter the new one. Consult your manual to see if the board support it.

2-. Connect 20-pin cable to the motherboard. (Assuming that the motherboard is relatively new)

3-. Plug in the power connectors to CPU and the CPU fan or fans.

4-. Now, we must connect the power connector to the storage units, power switch, reset switch, led's.

5-. And finally, if you have a floppy drive connect it.

6-. Turn on computer and test if all are working good.
